System Wide Variables
The values that you enter on the System-Wide Variables page are used to calculate the retail prices for all of the items in your RPG price book. When you make a change on this page, it affects all items throughout the book! Using these values, you can quickly fine tune your system and component prices to cover ever increasing overhead costs.

Component Pricing & Install Kits
RPG calculates replacement system prices based on the equipment cost and a series of “mini-estimates”. These mini-estimates are contained in the "Components" section of RPG are then grouped together to create an “Install Kit”. (You can see actual examples of the mini-estimates and Install Kits by clicking on the links below.)
Here’s an example of how that works…
Let’s say we need to replace a typical outdoor condensing unit. The Install Kit for that task might include:
- Labor to remove and dispose of the old unit
- Labor to pickup, deliver and unpack the new unit
- Labor and material for the equipment mounting pad
- Labor and material to tie into the existing refrigerant lines (or install a new line set)
- Labor and material for the outdoor electrical service
There are mini-estimates already created for items 3, 4 and 5 in the “Components” section of the RPG system.
RPG then takes the total retail price of the Install Kit and adds it to the marked-up price of the condensing unit to come up with the final installed retail price. Using this approach, you don’t forget anything because it has already been thought about for you!

The Final Product
Once you have everything loaded up the way you want, the system automatically formats the retail price pages for you! All of the information you entered in the Variables, Equipment and Component pages is automatically calculated, transferred and formatted for you!
The following links provide examples of the different HVAC system configurations that come standard with RPG. If you don’t install a certain type of equipment, you don’t need to print that section. (Each of the sample pages show 3 ton systems. RPG produces retail price pages for all applicable sizes, from 1-1/2 through 5 tons.)
